last toot: I haven't used ICQ for years, but had a 6-digit number when it started in 1998.
Sad to see it go.
I feel like USENET represented the apex of "inernet culture".
@kismatt My reaction to ICQ was "great, another app that I have to check messages in, and it will also help people to nag me for an immediate response or complain when they don't get it."

@AskTheDevil I used to to talk to my cousin, mostly, and some random fandom stuff.
Heck, I still use IRC.
