I was in Aldi again earlier and started chatting with a nice older couple, in the wine ausle. I was on a door dash order and getting 14 bottles of wine (literally, πŸŽ‰). The man said 'looks fun' and I clarified my purpose there, and asked them if they liked the Aldi wine.

So:

>they're German (I noticed the accent after more than 2 words were said)
>they think the US Aldi wine absolutely sucks
>they said they get legit good quality, known label, wine for $3
>he said 'no its actually fine wine'

@agitated_trash I'd rather have the Three Buck Chuck from Trader Joes. :)

@kismatt

I had high hopes. It wasn't bad but it did trigger the heartburn so I had to break up with Chuck. The story behind that brand is interesting.

@agitated_trash yep, interesting history!

Speaking of Aldi wines, tho, the Winking Owl Sweet Red didn't give me too much heartburn. And I get heartburn if you wave a bottle of merlot under my nose. lol

If you want a little pricer wine, I like Meiomi Pinot Noir. Nice fruit bottom and not too bad with the tannins.

There was another PN that I liked, but it was a 2017 vintage and is no longer produced. :\
