Wife's birthday today.
I baked a cake (I don't bake).
Dinner plans later.
Walked to the store to get the card.
Woke up in my usual dumb-as-a-rock condition. Even more-so because she insisted on staying up to watch the Kamala-Walz rally.
Forgot to make her breakfast with the cake.
I'm now in the dog house.
It's OK to not know "why".
Sometimes the reason needs time to manifest.
And, knowing "why" doesn't always return control to you.
The journey towards revenge or justice may result in a less happy life.
The most beneficial reason to know "why" is to either keep it from happening again (because you don't want it), or to make it happen again (because you want it). Neither has any impact on why it happened in the first case.
Our local long-term care hospital, Laguna Honda, has started to allow former residents to return. It is also taking in new residents.
This was a long and painful journey for my family. My mother in law was a resident there for her last years. She was in the process of dying when they were threatening to move her to another facility. 41 were moved and 12 of them immediately died. "Transfer Trauma".
I fought against the transfers and they (US govt) stopped it. We may have saved 100 lives
Discussion this morning while walking with the wife:
How can Kamala get us to start talking to each other and stop hating.
My insight: After an election our ability to change things diminishes.
We need to focus on the things we can control.
We shouldn't get emotional about the things we don't control.
We can still fight-the-good-fight, but don't vilify your neighbor. Be civil.
Argue during the elections. That's the battleground.
Then go back to being neighbors.
The great John Mayall has died.
"Room to Move" was one of my favorite songs growing up. Incredible harmonica.
Later I learned that Eric Clapton played with him.
Now I hear, from him in this tweet, that John mentored Eric at an early age.
Government being, among other purposes, instituted to protect the Persons and Consciences of men from oppression, it certainly is the duty of Rulers, not only to abstain from it themselves, but according to their Stations, to prevent it in others.
