Looks like we also got the San Francisco city attorney to take action to stop the impending transfer of patients out of Laguna Honda Hospital.
He requests "that Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) exercise its discretion to continue the pause on transfers and discharges at Laguna Honda Hospital & Rehabilitation Center"

Every morning
(well, almost every morning)
I read a passage or two from Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.

Besides teaching perspective on dealing with difficult people,
a key theme is:

"You are always in control."

I wish I had that perspective as a young adult.

I wish some of my siblings had that perspective.

I made the news again.
We're trying to keep the government from evicting 400 skilled nursing facility (SNF) residents from Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco. The eviction restarts on Feb 2nd.
The last process killed 12 people out of 41 SNF residents. a 27% death rate.
We have 400 SNF residents still there.
That's 100 deaths about to happen.
And 50 will die within 3 weeks of discharge.

Still positive.
But the test line is even more faint.
Thought I'd be clear of it today. Hoping for a negative test tomorrow.

I recommend listening to all opinions. But don't amplify them unless you have done your research.
And, by "research", I mean finding sources that are less likely to be biased and are not merely amplifying a similar message.

Society has erroneously equated charisma to intelligence and integrity.
This is how suckers have been conned for centuries.

When we're debating "free speech" and social media, remember to include "amplification" in the discussion.
It is OK to have any opinion. Otherwise innovation and truth are suppressed.
It is not OK to influence hundreds, thousands or millions with an opinion when:
1) The counter-position is not also presented
2) It is messaged to a receptive audience (aka: not discerning)

Still testing positive.
But, the test-line is really faint.
I thought I'd be over it today.

Given how sick I was on the 2nd day, and given the multiple boosters and Paxlovid - I think I might have gotten extremely ill had I got COVID before all of those were available.

I'm really glad I had been masking-up all that time.

Damn.
Still testing positive for COVID.
Just have a little cough.
But, I am noticeably more tired than usual.

I just hung a piece I did in college. It only took 3 decades to get framed!

We have hail again in San Francisco.
2x in 7 days.
End Times are HERE!

Well, I just burned my whole Saturday getting an IP camera configured to stare at my 3D printer. At least I succeeded.

Sounds too geeky?

Well, I'm planning on producing 4 awesome capitals for columns in our guest bedroom. It will easily take 40 to 80 hours to print.

If I have to walk back and forth to the printer closet to check on the status (they do fail party way), I'll be walking continually for weeks. Hopefully this keeps that from happening!

Still testing positive. 5 days.
Slept VERY well.
But, dizzy this morning.
Little appetite.
Paxlovid really leaves a bitter taste in your mouth - especially in the morning. And, it's not because of residual pill dust left from taking it the following evening. It's in my system.

Just got a notice from UCSF, the local hospital in San Francisco. They want me to participate in a drug study.
I agreed.
But, they probably didn't check my chart to see that I'm already on Paxlovid.

seems to have taken 5.5 lbs off of me in 3 days since symptoms started.
I might just reach my January goal!

I'm going to start taking Paxlovid.
Just got the prescription.
I've been told it has an impact within hours. That would be pretty noticeable because I feel like shit right now.
