Creative destruction sucks.
But, inevitable.
No, prices were kept high.
But service is super fast.
We're facing many issues with labor with AI and other forms of automation. Waiters will be impacted, but probably not the greatest impact.
Meanwhile, we need more plumbers, electricians and other manual labor contractors.
Some people are bothered by QR codes in restaurants.
There is a restaurant in Portola Valley that uses Toast to both display the menu and place the order and pay. No waiter. Just a human delivering the food. Incredibly efficient.
I think if you need to enlist a waiter to both take your order, bring your food and process your payment, you should be paying for that service.
Otherwise, embrace the QR code.
A weakness in the American democratic construct is that we simultaneously elect our Leader and our primary governing position (aka "President").
There are plenty of people that want Trump leading them and have no clue about governance.
There are much fewer that believe in his ability to govern.
Those that are appalled at people supporting Trump assume they are judging his ability to govern.
They are more often merely hungry for someone they can respect . . to lead them.
New idea for #Ukraine defense:
- Tethered drones that are supplied with ground-based power and equipped with munitions and machine-vision to target Shaheed drones.
- Tethered drones (as above) but equipped with short-range radar to provide precise guidance to the other set of drones.
- These are deployed as a techno-wall that destroys aerial munitions.

It's better than ever, actually.
The Tenderloin has never been good, and that's where most of the trouble is. Our neighborhood has more retail filling vacant stores than well before COVID. The new DA and fewer ultra progressives in city hall are turning the ship in the right direction. BTW, almost all the crime drives over from Oakland.
