CNN stated that a second chinese baloon spotted over latin America.

@Priestess
That's so sad.
I do believe that people that are locked into a highly-vocal religious disposition are desperate for structure in their lives. They feel the need to get others around them to hear about this structure so they feel more comfortable in society and the world.

My brother in law had some pretty difficult years recently (mostly with business). His recent journey seems to be focused on finding meaning to life and an emotional foundation.

@Anemone
I guess we'll never get out of this time loop.

@Priestess
That might be dangerous.

But funny.

I have ways of cutting to the core of his belief system without being crazy or condescending.

For instance: "If God is all-powerful, why do people have to change laws to appease him? What do they get out of it? Will their crops grow taller? Will they increase their chances of getting into heaven? Are they going to be punished because they didn't try to change the laws?
Why not just observe with compassion and humility?

@Priestess
The flaw in your strategy is that you assume he listens.

At all.

@Rickbflony
Ah, it's a group effort.
I'll keep that in mind.

Meanwhile, I just need to survive another day without starting an argument.

I'm also at risk of running out of vodka.
I just hope I get to try some of it.

I'm going on day 3 of the visit of my brother-in-law without my wife here to buffer us.

So far nobody has been injured.

I suspect I'll learn even more about the Bible than I knew before - whether I want to or not.

I just got word that Laguna Honda Hospital got a reprieve from CMS (Fed. Govt) on discharging patients until May 19th!

The press doesn't even know about this yet. I'm trying to get the details to them now.

This will probably save 100 lives this year.

My alarm didn't go off.
Slept 10 hrs.
Woke up 12 mins before my first meeting.
Glad I work from home!!!

@DJNoneYa
I swear that was a photoshopped painting.
I think he's really proud of that work.

I was not able to listen to the entire meeting today of the SF Board of Supervisors, but I've been told that acting CEO Roland Pickens WILL NOT RESTART THE DISCHARGES ON FRIDAY!!!

This is very good news.

He is awaiting word from CMS that they are extending the pause.
It is our goal to keep delaying the discharges until LHH is recertified.

My letter may have helped save a lot of lives!

I reviewed a recent set of citations the California Dept of Public Health (CDPH) gave to Laguna Honda and pulled the date of their discharge and death.
This is the plot of that data.
The mean is 21 days.
So, 50% of those that will die will probably die within 3 weeks of their discharge.

@promibro
There is a terrible injustice to this entire issue.

My mother in law was a resident there. She died last Sept. But, they tried to relocate her despite her frail health.

What it doesn't mention is that we already saw a 27% death rate of the most vulnerable patients that were relocated last year. 11 residents in the skilled nursing group died.

We have 400 remaining at Laguna Honda receiving skilled nursing support.

We could see over 100 people die because of this program.

It starts on Friday.

This will be a massacre if it is not stopped.
