I'm struck by the messy conditions the Russian soldiers leave behind in #Ukraine as they retreat.
It's consistently everywhere.
This reminds me of the really poor sections of the US. Communities with garbage everywhere. They've little else to do but they don't bother cleaning up their surroundings.
Theory for both: Extensive fetal alcohol syndrome.
We know Russia has a big problem with alcoholism. What if most of their mothers were constantly drunk during pregnancy?
Plausible?
@jurban there's clearly an utter lack of value of life on the Russian side. I'd be careful to place the blame on FAS, as the UK and many countries in Europe are nearly as high. See data below: https://www.salford.ac.uk/sites/default/files/2020-09/UOS-foetalconf%20-%20Penny%20Cook.pdf

Thanks for this study!
These were interesting metrics:
▪Australian study found 60% of inmates had documented prenatal alcohol exposure, 36% had diagnosed FASD (high numbers of Aboriginal inmates) (Bower et al., 2018)
▪ Systematic review found almost all prison
studies were conducted in USA and Canada. Young adults with FASD were 19 times more
likely to be imprisoned than those without FASD

Yikes.
I think there is a story to be told about entire cultures and how they stopped progressing because something ( chemical, virus, etc.) made them, collectively, dumber.
The Romans seasoned their food with lead. That had to have had an impact.
The peasants in the middle ages mostly drank beer. It's hard to innovate when you are drunk.
