I recently learned that "young people" do not know what onion dip is. Many have never tried it.
To me, onion dip was on my top 10 most favorite things during childhood.
I can sit down with a gallon of onion dip and a bag of potato chips and be happy.
I will thoroughly regret doing so the following day.

You MUST make it with Lipton's dry Onion Soup mix, sour cream and a touch of ketchup.
There are rules to high-fat content edible substances.

Ketchup is the secret ingredient my wife uses. Maybe it's a California thing.
