Concentrate every minute like a Roman— like a man— on doing what’s in front of you with precise and genuine seriousness, tenderly, willingly, with justice. And on freeing yourself from all other distractions. Yes, you can— if you do everything as if it were the last thing you were doing in your life, and stop being aimless, stop letting your emotions override what your mind tells you, stop being hypocritical, self-centered, irritable.
.
Marcus Aurelius

This needs context, of course ^^^
Imagine being him as he wrote this to himself … a Roman Emperor … the fate of millions of lives resting on your decisions snd you’re feeling blocked.

In simpler terms… and what I like to remind myself of when I have something I must do but it is daunting

just do what is in front of you

His is better, of course, and the reason it inspired me today.

A sense of justice.
Maybe not being too hard on yourself
Accepting there will be irritating or impossible days but add a precise and gentle seriousness to the work in front of you and do what’s next.

I've never encountered something that I couldn't be simplified and, eventually, understood.
The hard part is how to break it down.
Then you know what to tackle first.
