Our final night in Greece.
Enjoy the Acropolis at sunset.

@jurban

My wife and I were eating at a cafe close to the Acropolis. It was a quiet, perfect night. A bouzouki player strolled by, sat down, tuned...and started playing 'Stairway to Heaven.'

@northernbassist @jurban Had to look up that instrument to figure out whether it leant itself well to "Stairway to Heaven" or not. I suppose with a skilled player that it could. Did you enjoy the music or did it ruin a "quiet, perfect night"? 🙂

@Embers @northernbassist
We heard music throughout our travels across 3 islands. One was a wedding procession! None diminished the experience.
One interesting characteristic of the recorded music was how few original songs were played. Everything was a cover song with its own twist.

@Embers

It’s similar to a deeper pitched mandolin. I would’ve enjoyed some more traditional music but the song actually lends itself well to that instrument and it was very pleasant.

@jurban

@northernbassist @jurban Well good 🙂 am glad it was pleasant. I Google the instrument and listened to some samples of music played with it and it seemed like it might work ok for STH depending on what key it was tuned in. 🙂

@jurban That's a lovely photo/view. Hope we can visit Greece once hubby retires in 2 years. We both loved Rome when we visited there a few years ago, seeing so many ancient ruins right next to more modern-day buildings really gave us such a feeling of historical awe, am sure we'd enjoy Greece for similar reasons. Also want to visit Ireland & Scotland for the castles (& to look up relatives my dad found on his trip there in 77). Greece certainly has the better climate of those 3 countries!

@Embers
Make sure you visit the islands as well! It is a wonderful country and the people are so nice.

@jurban Nods :) have heard good things from others I know who've traveled there about their experience with the local people and, except for lamb and goat, am fairly fond of Mediterranean cuisine so it would likely be an awesome trip. Dang..now am hungry for beef gyros!!
