The people who are attacking schools, mosques, churches, and synagogues are not a "militia".

They're lone wolf terrorists inspired by known online terrorist groups.

And because the "media" won't tell the public this and most people are too stupid to figure it out on their own, the terrorists are winning.

The terrorists want civilians disarmed because it makes easier targets.

The terrorists don't care if they themselves can't get guns, they'll just switch to bombs (again).

@Render
So, what is/are the root problem(s)?

I walk it back to our culture.
We have a group that is primitive and has not developed sufficient empathy or comprehension of the value of community.

The US culture edifies the strong loner.

The weapons are accelerants in that equation.

@jurban The "root" problem is social media not just allowing these groups to grow, but in some cases actively encouraging their growth.

Places like Twitter, Facebook, and Telegram do this mostly out of greed (hate makes clicks, clicks make advertising money), and to some extent out of misguided politics.

When Twitter refuses to ban accounts w/nics like "JewKiller1488", that's encouragement. Just as it is w/al-Qaeda and ISIS.

Death threats are not free speech.

@Render
Quite a perspective.
I wonder if anyone in that dark hole is redeemable.

@jurban I don't think so. But I also recognize that I have a highly biased opinion on that matter.

@Render
The penal system requires "redeemability".

Otherwise, society suffers.

When society suffers, the potential of mankind is hindered.

There is a moral risk here.

@Render I agree with your bias on that matter. None of the Jihadists, Nazis, or generic White Supremacists, for that matter the QAnon crazies, or the 3%ers are redeemable. I have little hope for a majority of Libertarians as well, or basically ANY of the religious zealots (Dominionists, "End Times" Zionists, Westboro Baptist, Patriot Church...)

@Heucuva8 I would suggest most of the people in the supposed "Radical Left", have no interest in disarming people. We do recognize however, that there is a Clear and Present Danger to our children (especially, but all of us as well), posed by the Super Lax stance many states have on Firearm Access.
Ideally Good Guys would have no problems getting what they want, but Bad Guys would.

@Heucuva8 The idea is that we need SOMEONE keeping track of who has the guns and how many, so they don't just get handed to people who shouldn't have them. Have we considered a Private Entity (overseen / audited by the Feds) be in charge of maintaining the records of sales, thefts, etc of Firearms?

@Render You misunderstand. I'm talking about those actively seeking the End Times because they can't wait to be crowned God's Chosen People in Heaven.

I've seen no evidence that you are, overtly or otherwise, salivating at the thought of making Armageddon happen. I could be wrong tho. πŸ€”

@Render
I think social media is also an accelerant.

People are not born as racists nor angry.

At some point they tip into these dispositions.

In 200 years we'll have a better way to raise citizens so that the culture is more optimal. In the meantime we'll bicker about the overt topics and lock into ideological corners.
