Not trying to get peoples hopes up here yet but...

In the north the Ukrainian army is within about 15 miles of cutting off four Russian combined arms armies from the Russian border.

In the south the Ukrainian army with with 5 miles of cutting off at least 6 Russian brigades on the wrong (western) side of the Dnieper. And within 30 miles of cutting off three Russian combined arms armies.

7 of the 10 combined armies that Russia has committed to Ukraine.

This is going to be a fucking mess.

Russian battleships will pound the shit out of any city they can get close to unless it's too dangerous.

They need a means to put more fear into offshore battleships in order to maintain their safety.

@jurban Ukraine put a shore based anti-shipping missile into service this time last year. It's called the Neptune and it has a range of about 300km.

I don't think that they have very many Neptune's in service yet and I know that the Black Sea was too crowded with civilian shipping to fire them until about two weeks ago. A single truck mounted launcher with 4 missiles is all that has been seen since last year.

@jurban Also...

Russia doesn't have any battleships. The largest Russian combat ship in the Black Sea is a single destroyer (thank you Turkey). The other six Russian combat ships in the Black Sea are frigates and patrol ships with smaller guns of limited range (around 12 miles).

@Render
Are those the ships that are shelling Mariupol (besides planes and artillery)? And, how many Neptunes might it take to disable that destroyer?

@jurban Yes. If the simulations are accurate it and the Russian DDG has its own defenses ready to go, it would take between 25 and 40 Neptune anti-ship missiles to sink it.
