We've been doing The Fast Metabolism Diet (https://hayliepomroy.com/) for a few years. Always burns off 3-5 lbs/wk. Not too painful.
Age is the challenge with doing the same diet: The metabolism changes, so you can't keep doing the same thing.
A friend is doing intermittent fasting and that's worked very well for him. I'm going to consider that after finishing up this diet cycle for maintenance.
