The other day I was behind a box trailer being towed by a pickup waiting for the light to turn green. Subjected the whole time to a flag hanging from the trailer’s door handle proclaiming, “TRUMP. Fuck your feelings.” Now I’m not sure what that meant, but I have a good idea the truck driver was a Trump supporter. Who does stuff like that except Trump supporters? These in-your-face political statements? Signs of insecurity, maybe?

Hate to say this, but if the Republicans ran a convicted felon, a man deemed guilty of sexual assault, a man who favors the leader of one of our country’s enemies, the man who stole classified documents, a man who incited his followers to attack the Capitol to stop the new president from being certified, a man who says our country is a failing, third-world country, the election would still be close. Wait! That’s exactly what they did. And they could still win!

@ellesu Okay, maybe. Those MAGA men, though, when in the voting booth, will likely vote for Trump, because they won’t have found that reason to vote otherwise. Unlike those who hang Trump flags from their porches and trucks, they are loath to admit to a questioner that they will vote for that despicable candidate.

There are no “undecided” voters at this point in the election cycle. Those who claim to be either have already decided but don’t want to say, or don’t plan on voting.

“Coming up, Robbie Reporter talks to three people in Swing State X about what they think of the candidates for president.”

Who cares what three people sitting in a bar or ambushed off the street think? That would be a poll with a margin of error of +/- 10,000 %. Give me a break.

Harris was smart to immediately call for a second debate after her thumping of Trump last night. Puts the pressure on him, who will demand a Fox-sponsored debate with Hannity and Ingraham as moderators (which he’s already done, and that ain’t happening), or question why he needs to debate again, since it “was my best debate, and all the polls showed I won.” Not! Either way, he has an exit excuse which will make him look weak - again.

Harris should be the one criticizing the ABC moderators, who let Trump have more time to argue anytime he wanted to when it wasn’t his turn to speak. The one time she wanted to rebut a lie Trump told about her, they wouldn’t let her. But, unlike Trump, she kept her cool.

If you have your 401K or IRA retirement in mutual funds, it's not encouraging to know they're being managed by fucking idiots. Look how many bought DJT stock. The only excuse is they're expecting things to be so bad if he win that they want to stay on his good side.

Now that Taylor Swift has come out for Harris - forced to, because an AI-generated video showed her endorsing Trump - we’ll see if Republicans call for boycotting the Kansas City Chiefs. Wouldn’t surprise me.

I like Rachel Maddow. But why is she given the moderator spot in the presidential debate discussion on MSNBC? She’s essentially left the network to pursue personal career ambition. Lawrence O’Donnell would be a more appropriate pick, IMO.

@S_r_stone Shame has been eliminated since the advent of Trump.

@Marc_T_Benedict True! I’m taken back to the ‘30s, when prominent Americans, like Lindbergh and Joseph Kennedy were Nazi sympathizers. It’s always been there, and now millions of Americans have the “permission” to state their racist, autocratic, misogynistic views openly without fear of being relegated to the wacko, ignorable minority.

@S_r_stone The foghorn only works if there is a significant segment of the population who agrees with it. Sadly, that’s the case.

There was a book back in the ‘50s, I think, called The Ugly American. What made me think of that now? Because we have a presidential election in which one of the candidates is a liar, a sexual predator, a convicted felon, and the election polls say the race is tied. It makes me lose faith in the exceptionalism of America. That half of the country would vote for such an unworthy, vindictive, childish narcissist who wants to take away freedoms of the Constitution, depresses me all to hell.

I got it! I got the solution to chaos following a Trump loss in November. Harris should say, and keep saying it, that “If I lose to a convicted felon, a failed businessman, a twice-impeached former president, a philanderer and sexual abuser, and a fat, old incoherent man, there must have been massive fraud in the election!

@S_r_stone Reagan’s line was determinative, at least according to pundits today. And he was a beloved Republican. So I think that would be a good ploy, emphasizing Republican leaders coming out to endorse her.

No, she can’t get bogged down countering his many lies individually..That would favor Trump, who could then use that Reagan line himself.

Here’s what I hope Harris says after a typical Trump rant in their debate: “To quote Ronald Reagan, ‘There you go again.’ You keep spouting lies, hoping that enough voters will believe you if you keep repeating them. None of what you just said is true and can easily be fact-checked. Now here are the real facts . . .”

President Lyndon Johnson understood the politics of racism from the inside, saw it in part as a ploy to divide and conquer.

Lyndon Johnson once said to young staffer, Bill Moyers, “If you can convince the lowest white man that he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll even empty his pockets for you.”

LBJ was describing the politics of resentment and divisiveness.

Mark Cuban @Mcuban

No question, the MSM protects the republican candidate by not reporting on what he literally says. If anyone else used the exact same language, they would dismiss them as incoherent, senile, incompetent or worse. Good job ⁦
