Okay, looks like Texas will be allowed, thanks to SCOTUS, to arrest suspected illegal immigrants despite immigration law being in the purview of the federal government. But what if the federal government refuses to recognize these arrests? Texas doesn’t have - yet - the authority to deport people. Maybe they’ll just lock them up in prison after a trial? Hmm.

@johnldeboer Maybe they'll just stick people onto vehicles or into detention facilities, like they already do for their various stunts. Maybe it doesn't matter what is legal or right if nobody stops them.

Our laws are not laws of physics, like gravity. They are made-up, and maintained through collective will, or lack of it.

If nobody stops them, they can do whatever the fuck they want, and go "nyah nyah".

@AskTheDevil That’s the rub. Who, if anybody, can or will stop them from thumbing their noses at the rest of us?

@AskTheDevil Here’s hoping there’re enough of “us” in the right places to do that.

@johnldeboer I think we need to take a step outside the neat cubbyholes we've been forced into, because continuing to sit separately at home, or behind a cash register, or in a cubicle, not raising a stink will do nothing.

@johnldeboer By which I mean, "where we've been put and stayed so far" is not "the right place" to get anything done.

For one thing, more of us regular folks should run for office. If any idiot can do it, unconcerned with their lack of skill or morals, we can do it with a lack of skill, and learn while following our morals and ethics.

Also, a million people shouting outside where a bad guy works makes a statement.

@AskTheDevil Republicans figured that out a long time ago when they thought long term. Get folks running for school boards, city councils, state offices, work their way up. Democrats have not been as good at that.
