Can Congress please pass a law banning pharmaceutical ads on TV? Only one other country in the world does that - New Zealand. No offense, kiwis, but what’s your excuse? Ours is Congress in the tank for big Pharma. So we won’t ban the ads that pit patients against their doctors. “Why can’t I have that drug? Everyone who takes it seem so happy on TV.”

@Kaysymmetry Hello, Canada! Are you sure you aren’t watching TV stations originating in the U.S.? My understanding is that direct drug ads to consumers is prohibited in Canada. A loophole in the law allows a drug name to be mentioned, but not it’s use.

@johnldeboer we may have restrictions on pharmaceutical ads here, but between the limited Canadian ads we get, plus the full-on American ones, it doesn't really feel like the restrictions matter.
