Ever had a house guest who visits and makes you realize how differently other people exist in their spaces?
Currently have a guest who apparently stomps and slams doors and drawers and cupboards and how do people live like this???
@IrisDallen Eh, it's most likely because they're hard of hearing and they don't realize how loud they're being, which is a whole other thing and one that I'm fine just living with during their short stay rather than making them feel self conscious. I was just venting into the void, tbh.
@jenneviere My Mom used to yell at me for "stomping" around the house. I started walking up on my toes to be quieter. Then the husband and the daughter claimed I was "Hulk smashing" everything. Well, that started when I broke the 2nd or 3rd mixer.
Tell guest if they break it, they bought it.
We have a very quiet home. My husband has learned to do things, especially putting away the dishes, quieter when I have a migraine, but honestly CPTSD makes me sound sensitive without the migraine. It's literally painful.
@Agatha I'm learning that we do, too, I guess.
My sister had 4 loud kids. Two still at home. Grandkids etc. I had 1 introverted kid who is no longer at home and no grandkids. It's so very, very different. π But that's ok. It'd be boring if we were all the same.
@jenneviere
I'd tell them to calm down.
