If you ever post your pain or struggle, and no one replies--especially if you are very new--it is very likely that folks saw you but didn't have a chance to reply before the firehose flowed on.

This is hard to remember. It is. But low response rates do not mean you don't matter or people don't care.

I dearly hope people mostly receive comfort when they need it.

But if there is a miss, it doesn't derive from indifference. Not here.

Many folks have mentioned that they dread the Christmas holiday--maybe they will be alone, grieving, or with family that hurts. So many reasons to struggle that day. Christmas Eve is often a loaded day as well.

Mastodon: Can block people, but people can just make a zillion new accounts on any instance; you can also be easily impersonated on other instances

Post: Can 'mute' people but not block them, I guess? Very limited features.

CoSo: juuuuuuuust right. No harassment or trolls to begin with, blocking works, can set accounts to private...
