John Phillip Sousa was the source of many great band marches as well as an ego-stroking contraption he called the Sousaphone. He had no help with it and contrived the device in his garage at night. #CoSoLies
@jasod I knew this was a lie when I got to the word "great." 😆
@danialexis The "Panama" piece was one of our concert selections for the season finale this year. I am still ranting about it....
@jasod The only good thing about a Sousa march is that, as a clarinetist, the only thing I have to know is what key it's in and I automatically have everything after the trio memorized. It's all just 16th note major scales from there on out.
@danialexis I am sad that you say there is anything good about a Sousa march....
@jasod To be precise, the good thing here is that I know all my major scales.
@danialexis Watching the souls slowly leave and the light fade from the band is the only thing about a Sousa piece that I would describe as emotive or haunting
@danialexis 100%
