@Ellis564 @LnzyHou @thewebrecluse I look at the therapy first. Find out what the trends are vs the solid "this helped me with x' approaches are. An example, prior to CPTSD being added to the DSM, it was just bundled under PTSD. A common therapy for PTSD is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a rough ride for CPTSD. When dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT) came out, it was a much better approach. I started with CBT and went back for a tune-up when I found a person who had used it.
@thewebrecluse @Ellis564 @LnzyHou I am also keeping my eyes on the LSD / Ketamine / psylocibin studies. They have had some astonishing results.
@jasod @Ellis564 @LnzyHou I am ALLLLL for Ketamine and psylocibin work. It has proven incredibly effective for A LONG TIME it just took this long for that knowledge to become public and accepted. Absolutely look into it even now if you're interested. Many practitioners are switched over to these methodologies from traditional psych even in my area.
@thewebrecluse @Ellis564 @LnzyHou I found the studies at the base of the Netflix documentary about it. They aren't over-selling it! The data are "mind-blowing"

@jasod @Ellis564 @LnzyHou @thewebrecluse EMDR was (and is) what has worked best for me. That and deep-diving into Aquinas (which I don’t recommend - that one sort of has to call to you & if it does, you’ll know)
@JGSchaeffer @jasod @Ellis564 @LnzyHou @thewebrecluse Aquinas takes some will power! More than I ever had. He was voluminous about his areas of expertise.
@NiveusLepus @jasod @Ellis564 @LnzyHou @thewebrecluse Yes, indeed! His process amazes me and I constantly refer back to it (in English, my Latin is abysmal) It’s all online now: https://aquinas101.thomisticinstitute.org/st-index
@JGSchaeffer @jasod @Ellis564 @LnzyHou @thewebrecluse He set the standard for Catholic Church Law and the Catechism going forward. HIs impact was massive!
@jasod @Ellis564 @LnzyHou EMDR is probably one of the best and most effective trauma and PTSD modalities ... CBT is indeed BRUTAL for CPTSD oh you gotta be strong for that one.
