The damage from Hurricane Helene could impact access to the vote for large numbers of those in flood and wind damaged counties. It looks like those in (checks political map) Republican strongholds will be disproportionately effected.
@stueytheround While I am sure the Biden Administration will not do anything but help people in hard hit areas to get back on their feet, it is the responsibility of the NC Counties and State election officials to deal with this problem.
@jackdetate Not my point at all.
If Dems are not *seen* to be actively helping voters to vote in this case, it can and *will* be used in an attempt to invalidate election results.
@stueytheround Everything that happens or doesn't happen is already being used as a reason to invalidate the election. Nothing can prevent that from happening. That said, FEMA human. and equipment resources and the funds that are allocated are focused on the damaged communities.
@jackdetate
I *really* hope that Biden et al make every possible effort to enable those people to vote, regardless of who they might vote *for*. The optics of *not* doing so could be catastrophic.
