Just finished watching "The Hunger", the story of the Irish famine (1845 - 1852) on PBS America. Yet another story of how the British government witheld aid because the people who needed it was not an acceptable "class". Seems to be a recurring theme. It's good to be reminded.

@HopeSeeker You know what makes me so angry is that it all could have been avoided. They just didn't see those people as "worth it". 😡
@homebird Agree! Many Americans have at least one ancestor who left Ireland because of the famine.
