Insurance 'nightmare' unfolds for Florida homeowners after back-to-back hurricanes

Many victims facing catastrophic losses due to water damage “are just walking away.”

The insurance industry is categorizing the storms as two separate events, meaning anyone who did not or could not document damage from Helene could face even greater odds that their claim will be denied if they were hit by both storms.

@guinnessphil I'm sure it would be enough of a nightmare after merely one disaster

@peeppeepcircus a friend of mine moved from Pennsylvania (where I live) to Florida several years ago. I checked on him yesterday and asked if they were ok after Milton hit. i knew that he lived near St. Lucie where the 20+ tornadoes spun off. He said they were fine, no big deal. Barely missed 20+ tornadoes but "no big deal" wow. i'll take PA weather and climate with its 4 seasons 👍
