Ughhh...

Having a ugly "bad back" day

Not as many of these after I retired so some of my ability to "eat pain" is diminished. Not to mention I'm having to devote some of that mental resource to dealing with some residual pain from falling so badly in February. The right hamstring is actually the least painful now

Trying to get through on my anti-inflammatory & sitting in as back protecting of a position as I can

Someday, I will probably damage it enough for the surgery to be worth the risk

Oof. Feels, hon. Whenever my PCP or Ortho doc revisits the topic of back surgery, my standard response for years has been that getting cut isn't the objectionable part; it's the post-op pain management that scares the ever loving beans outta me. Thing is, as time goes by, so does my willingness to consider surgery.

Please be gentle with yourself. We recovery dinosaurs need to stick around as long as we can. Peace, love, and respect. ๐Ÿ’–

The original injury happened in early March, 1985. Never entirely pain free since. I know this was a contributing factor of my substance history that finally bottomed me out in May of 1987

Been substance free since then except for 1 BAD episode where a doctor had me on narcotics for exactly 4 doses. She managed me the 24 hours of "stillness" to let the worse part of the inflammation reside. Then it was back to anti-inflammatories and ice.

Almost HAD to have surgery in 2003
