@fatslothslim Answer to q1 for me is 'no', and given the feeds are straight chronological w/out algorithmic manipulation, I would venture to say it doesn't happen.

A thread is a conversation, responses to it appear to the people involved. It will continue as a thread until people tag themselves out, mute the conversation or the conversation ends.
I'm not aware of conversations "going viral" or "trending". There are no bots or algorithms to track anything anyone is talking about.

imma ignore first part, cuz no clue what it means

only things which go into notifications are mentions/faves/boosts/follows

so if you post somethin, and it garners 100 replies, you'd get 100 notifications (assuming no one removes your at from reply...which would be poor form)

threads def splinter tho...the first post may garner a response which my garner a response etc creating one thread...and this can happen multiple times

all that goes in notifs is mentions, not "threads"
