A few minutes of sheer panic as my phone alerted me of an incoming ballistic missile coming to Hawaii with notice that “This is Not a Test”. Took a few minutes to get confirmation this message went out in error. Waiting for my adrenaline levels to normalize.

@evamarie

So what are you supposed to do if it is NOT a test?

@etymologik Stay indoors and away from windows, which is pretty unhelpful advice if nukes are raining down.

@evamarie

Well, that would shield you some from the burn radiation that people outdoors experienced in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It really did make a difference to survival rates.

@evamarie @etymologik If they are inbound, I would rather just die quick tbh

@evamarie We heard no sirens, and I got no Civil defense notification - from where did your phone notify you?

@Stizz Yes, my phone started altering at 8:05 am with the notice “This is not a test”. It got my attention, and I honestly began to shake.

@Stizz No sirens here, either, but I began to listen. Immediately turned on to CNN, and they weren’t broadcasting about it, so it made me feel better. If it were an actual crisis, I think the news would cover it.

@evamarie I am so sorry you had to go through that 😔

@BlueTiger Thank you. The whole State went through a collective freak out. I’m out running errands at a few shops and it’s all anyone can talk about. After realizing you’re not going die by nuclear annihilation, there’s a pretty gleeful relief.
