I have been politely informed I need to avoid the news and ‘social media’ for a bit to detox.

I am not sure this counts as ‘social media’ in any toxic way….so we will see.

How to remain informed and sane over the coming years is going to be a challenge.

I think that’s the challenge for most of us: how to stay informed and not go into mental health decline.

Personally, I am leaning into radical “one moment at a time “ thinking and trying like hell not to speculate. This is hard because my brain naturally projects future outcomes so my thinking is very intentional now.

Also, I’ve resolved to actively avoid a lot of news so as not to trigger projection and speculation. Also, I think I’ll need therapy. 🙃

I don't think it's unfair to point out that people used to "stay informed" by watching a half-hour news show once a day and reading a newspaper made out of PAPER.

People seem to think it necessitates obsessive hypervigilance these days.

There are vanishingly few events that you'd be worse off for not having heard about them for twelve hours.

My staying away from news is a short term solution just to allow myself to become strong enough to face the new reality. Basically, I’m giving myself until Inauguration Day. I need a breather to fortify myself for the battle ahead.
