When I visited Quebec City some time ago the local galleries featured several modern European painters who emulate the Dutch Masters - I loved strolling the cobblestone streets popping into the galleries and letting myself be carried away by the beauty 💚 @Sr0bi @evamarie
Optics is certainly an interesting area in art. Although there is no proof, many art historians speculate Vermeer used a camera obscura (precursor of the camera) to help create his art:

I don't know if it has been confirmed to everyone's satisfaction but in Tim's Vermeer (2013) there was a painting that exhibited a form of lens distortion. I'd be curious whether more instances have been observed. That would seem like pretty substantial proof provided that they weren't dealing with a flawed reproduction.
