I’ve read three articles today parsing out every sentence Harris uttered in her CNN interview while TFG lies every single day and no one points out his prevarications. Plus, now he’s gone and blamed gold star families for his Arlington cemetery fiasco.

Just ranting.

@evamarie

Oh, his lies get regularly pointed out, in a bunch of places, but as I think Daniel Dale pointed out, first, it's a black hole, there are just TOO MANY lies to point them all out. It takes a second for him to tell one, and an hour or more to show he's lying.

Second, and maybe consequentially, it's got kind of a "DOG BITES MAN" quality to it in terms of newsworthiness. People who vote for Moby swear he's telling the truth, which is insane, they can't be helped, I suspect.

@evamarie

I suspect there might be, oh, SEVEN people still on the fence about whether Dickless is a bullshit artist.

@mcfate

You may be right. If news agencies had to confront and check every lie out of TFG’s mouth, their articles would be endless. We’d need AI to just fact check the guy.

@evamarie

If you like polling, and I'm not saying I do in this specific case, the net-net on Dickless' honesty is twenty-two points underwater.

About one person in ten "isn't sure", and while they may be registered, I suspect they're too stoned to go vote.

@evamarie

You're quite right. The double standard established by the media is damned irritating to say the least, and no one seems willing to take the cheetotoddler to task for his continuous nonsense.

@evamarie I don’t wish to make more or less of the issue than need be, but rump has been a cash cow of sorts even for left-leaning media. Whatever side of the political spectrum peoples’ beliefs may fall, whatever any given owner’s or editor’s values, it’s in news outlets’ *financial* interest to extend the chaos surrounding him as long as they can. *Fear* of a potential, perceived crisis *sells* more than actually resolving it. No rump—no clicks on links (or a lot less, anyway).

@chaddus2_0

Just goes to show that rampant capitalism is at odds with democracy.

@chaddus2_0 @evamarie 👆Maybe, they need a new “crisis”, but they don’t seem to fathom the continual jeapordy in which they place even themselves while they deliberate between informing responsibly and selling the drama. Some of that falls on the consumers of such media, but the firms in question don’t help a whole lot.

@chaddus2_0

Back in the pre-cable news days, the three channels broadcasting news made it clear that their news divisions were never to make money. It was too important a public function to do anything but present the news impartially.

Sadly, those days are long gone.

@evamarie I agree. Wouldn’t it be nice if Harris pulled an LBJ on cable entertainment… I mean, cable “news” (cough)?

@chaddus2_0 @evamarie 🤔 I don’t know why, but for some reason I always tend associate the fairness doctrine with Johnson and I’m probably confusing things. Anyway…

@chaddus2_0 @evamarie …apparently some significant decisions were made regarding the doctrine during his presidency—maybe that’s it (neither here not there, really). Okay… moving on. 😎👉

@evamarie
OMG, my eye-roll when they asked if she’d have a Republican in her cabinet.

@TomeReader

I could see her appointing a sane Republican to her cabinet, someone very qualified and moderate. I just can’t think who that might be 😂

@evamarie one thing she stayed firm to is that her values never changed.

@evamarie It all seems so stupid, especially when you consider her opponent literally tried subverting the result of the last election by inciting a mob.
