For those of you who use artificial sweeteners, stay away from Xylitol, which can increase your risk of heart attack or stroke.
Actually, stay away from Mannitol, too, or any other sugar alcohol as they increase your blood sugar.

@evamarie I use Stevia
Actually, I use Stevia, too. ๐
Stevia does not taste as good as sugar, for sure. The trouble is, for those of us who have borderline A1C (or diabetes) and canโt have any sugar, we are left with few alternatives. Many sugar alcohols have been proven to cause not only heart attack or stroke but also increase blood sugar.
Sucralose shad a bad effect on your microbiome. Aspartame has been linked with many bad health outcomes.
Stevia seems to be the safest non sugar sweetener around.
@evamarie
a problem with pure stevia is that it can't be used in backing when you need a certain bulk. This means using a Stevia blend and some stevia brands should be avoided - they are bulked up with Erythritol.
Common additives are Maltodextrin, Dextrose, Inulin , Erythritol, Xylitol, Glycerin (liquid stevia)
I use Stevia in the Raw which uses Maltodextrin
