@evamarie Apparently they're successful, which says a lot about IT departments and people who don't maintain their systems.
A good source for security info is Bleeping Computer, and a second is Krebs on Security. Both are excellent sources for otherwordly goings-on of a nefarious bent.
My boss employs an IT firm which is supposed to fight off all security threats to our system, but I think they could do a better job of ongoing education about how to spot phishing scams and other outside threats. 🤷🏼♀️
@evamarie @XaoslordErie that was certainly true where I last worked! Somebody fell for them, a couple of times a year.
I spent several years working in IT, so anytime I see security issues of some kind, I tend to put on my "White Hat" and try to provide help of some kind. That said, both Bleeping and Krebs are good educational sources for information of the preventative kind, and Bleeping also has a page of freeware utilities one can use to protect one's machine(s). Some of those might be useful to you.
@evamarie So basically they are exploiting a vulnerability for which a patch was issued in 2022, and using malware that is detectable by Microsoft Defender?
