When David Bowie wrote this song, and later offered it to Ian Hunter and Mott, he couldn't have known how big it would become and how important.

Bowie wrote and offered quite a few songs to various artists over his career, but he also had some amazing people as part of his band whom many would not have expected. For example, Rick Wakeman, who played piano on "Changes", or longtime friend Earl Slick, who played guitar with David for decades. I think Bowie never forgot where he came from and paid it forward as much as he could, helping as many musicians as possible, from Mott to Queen and more.
