I scanned the article and didn't see a mention, but I'm assuming getting COVID would also cause changes in the mental cycle.
I did find an article that does support that, though it's buried under a bunch of subheadings, though they attribute it more to the stress the disease puts on the body than anything else.
When issues like this come up, I always like bringing up similar side effects of actually getting COVID when talking to vaccine skeptics.
