The State of Wyoming is considering phasing out the sales of electric vehicles by 2035 to “ensure the stability” of its oil and gas industry. (Or, rather, someone is trying to get a bill passed to make this happen.) https://www.teslarati.com/wyoming-phase-out-evs-2035/
"There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because a man or corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years, the government and the courts are charged with the duty of guaranteeing such profit in the future ... Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or turned back, for their private benefit."

Another excellent story by him. 🙂
I have that story in "The Past Through Tomorrow" anthology. Along with Life-Line, now that I think of it.
One of the reasons I've always enjoyed Heinlein was because he made you think. Even if you disagree with what he's saying (Starship Troopers has some moments for that), he's forcing you to think out *why* you agree or disagree with him.
