@estherschindler b/c we know poverty & scrambling for everything. we know our teachers hate us b/c we're not white. we know our classmates have stuff our families can't afford. we fucking haul ass. or we just don't make it. there are very few 2nd chances or ways to make up missed opps. you swallow microaggressions; you do your best to fit in; you study like crazy & fucking do everything you can...while your parents guilt the fuck out of you b/c of their sacrifices to give you a better life.
