Load testing – where you discover the point at which a computer system fails – is based on preparing for (graceful) failure by knowing its breaking point. Successful load testers anticipate high demand – but at what point do you pass from “high demand” to “ridiculous”? The guideline: Expect the unexpected.

My attitude to network testing was, if you don't know where it breaks, you have no idea how close to the edge you are.
One of my greatest joys was finding a system flaw in a Redback OC192 SONET ring in about 30 seconds.
Turns out if you can produce millions if errors a second, maybe each error shouldn't be a processor interrupt?
