Love how the CIA budget is always secret, so we have no idea what wacky stuff they're thinking. The latest is they're investing in bringing woolly mammoths back from extinction because, oh, you know, because!
"Woolly Mammoth Undercover Agents" sounds like a 1990s comic book series. Boy, the CIA people are such little rascals, you know?

Someone posted yesterday about how nice it is that they don't spend a lot of time doom-scrolling on CoSo as opposed to Twitter. I agree.

One thing that's off-putting about Twitter is that its overall vibe is that of a never-ending competition in which celebrities and one-note tweeps work tirelessly to get people depressed and outraged, not focused on strategies, solutions, or mature debate. Rarely do they inspire cooperation or action, just increased negativity.

Have a great day all!

From The Intercept: Twitter is a crummy business. It's only been profitable in 2 years: 2018 & 2019. In 2020 it lost over $1 billion, rebounding to lose a mere $222 million in 2021.
Musk’s deal to buy Twitter involved taking out $12.5 billion in loans, which means Twitter will have to come up with an additional $1 billion a year to service that debt.

Takeaway: Like Trump's presidential victory, Musk's Twitter "win" was something he didn't actually want to happen.

Vanity Fair:Breaking: A new Senate report concludes that SARS-CoV-2—the virus that causes COVID-19—likely resulted from “a research-related incident.” The report includes evidence of alarming biosecurity issues at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

That's what I've said from Day F--king One. Some young lab tech was late for a date and skipped some part of his decontamination. They'd been expecting this to happen for literal decades.

If you're still part-time on Twitter and you want to mess with Musk, block all advertisers whenever you see any. Once blocked they will never appear again.

Reason: Advertisers get reports on views, engagements and impressions, which is how they determine their ad budget.

It sends a message.
Takes less than 10 seconds, and one good thing is is you have very few ads show up in your Twitter feed.

Don Winslow's tweet of 10/28 regarding free Lyft rides to the polls on 11/8 is only partly true. Conditions apply:

Lyft is offering 50% off on rides to some polling places, as well as donating free and heavily discounted ride codes to nonprofit partners, like League of Women Voters and the National Council of Aging, whose communities often face barriers. The organizations will then pass those rides along to those that need them most.

So stupid that the elite capitalists refuse to let the government shut down the country in order to stop covid in its tracks. Apparently they don't realize that they're going to lose billions when all the workers either quit to avoid getting covid or become too disabled to do their stupid jobs.

We need a . If we give enough support to labor organizers, they could shut down 25 or so cities, which would basically have the same effects.

The wondrous thing about the firehose—as fast and furious as it is flowing these days—it is everything people are posting publicly, in real time.

There’s no weird algo highlighting something from two days ago or bending time.

What you see is what you get.

In a world of broken trust and deception, isn’t that refreshing?

Truly?!

ok

Just a note to say that I'm following anyone who replies to, favorites or boosts anything I post here. If Twitter wants to kill itself I'm happy to help.

At least everyone on Twitter has irrefutable evidence that Musk is the stupidest, scummiest billionaire ever made.

From Jeff Tiedrich, today: "holy fucking shit, twitter is crashing and burning faster than a tesla."

That's some truth, right there.

Stolen from Twitter, this about says it all folks.
I've lost at least *six* mutual followers whom I really liked. Very early in the game here, but CoSo may very well be the end of Twitter as we knew it. You can practically hear the stampede of Biden lovers running back to Facebook. Holy crow folks.

You know, a lot of people worked hard to build platforms on Twitter, and now it's screwed, thanks to Musk's suddenly opening the door to the 4chan scamps.

The site is trashed. All I see from the old is unintentional boosting of 4chan-centric racist memes etc when they broadcast their outrage: "Well I *never*! A Nazi frog? What on earth!"

This colossal screwup by Musk will put CoSo & the Fediverse on the map in a big way. Well *done*, Musk, you sad, egotistical, funny looking moron.

One thing I didn't like about Tribel was how during sign-up it really wants you to "find your bubble." I'm a stan progressive (I know, I know) who has conservative friends, vanilla Dem friends, even a few anarchist and Pepe-ish friends.
Bubbles are cancer.

Well this is gonna be a screwy day, isn't it. Be interesting to see if this app crashes today, with tons of people flocking here to take a hard pass on Elon Musk's massive ego-gasm.
Cheers!

Good morning, testing the waters here to see what happens. Progressive/leftist stuff and really dumb jokes are what I usually do on Twitter under @esaeger. Bernie Sanders, AOC, Squad supporter, and yes, I know how hopeless that is.
Ok!
