This country is so divided that literally anything could be the flashpoint of our next civil war. I'm making a Bingo card that lists all the things I predict will be involved when the US finally breaks down. So far I have a no smoking sign, a $10 lottery ticket, 5 cupcakes and a possum.

It used to be that liberals distrusted the CIA and conservatives trusted them but the script totally flipped after Trump. It's even worse now; the CIA uses "woke language" in their recruitment advertising and it's made liberals forget about COINTELPRO, constant surveillance, etc.

As opposed to the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR), which is comprised of career intel workers whose first duty is to the US govt, the CIA is overloaded with greedy private contractors.

@BobbieLee - Dorsey seems obsessed with cryptocurrency, so BlueSky could be a very dangerous place for data etc. Looks to me like he'll monetize by making his own (or Musk's?) crypto the coin of the realm on BlueSky rather than using standard ads.
Really sketchy stuff.

@Madken65 @Anouk - Know what's funny, I'm not seeing any ads on 4chan at all. Maybe the porn/hookup/viagra dudes are trying to get a deals from the Apartheid Kid. God knows he's not gonna have much choice now that advertisers are bailing out of Twitter at top speed.

Keeping an eye out for any mutuals who came here from Twitter. I know this isn't what this place is about, but I'm following all back, mostly because I tend to watch the "My Friends" feed a little more closely than the Firehose. Just saying.

I announced today that my next political humor book will be titled Righting The Online Left: Common Sense Citizenship for the Dawn of the Independent Media Era, due for release in Feb 2024 (not 2023).

It will feature discussions on "political Twitter culture," the things that divide the working classes (including education levels and the PMC's hubris), MMT as free market capitalism's last gasp, etc.

More as I start the actual rollout.

@JolieSaboteuse - Working on putting it in coherent sentences rn.
He's proof that billionaires are invasive parasites.

If you would prefer to never hear about Donald Trump again, then we recommend hopping into your Preferences and adding FILTERS for the following incomplete list of case-sensitive terms:

Trump, trump, TRUMP, Donald, donald, DONALD, TFG, tfg, DFG, dfg, etc.

We are real people, and real people discuss current events. You can't change that, but you can control what you see with the tools provided.

@Anouk - It's like Musk wants to have 4chan's level of monetization so he can declare it bankrupt as soon as possible. The only ads will be MyPillow and a few hentai porn sites.

@JolieSaboteuse - Cool, I brought scotch.
I hope he goes flat broke and ends up a big pile of unpaid loans just like Trump. I just don't have any safe-for-work words.

@etakeh - Totally, He's impervious to memes. Complete waste.

@th3j35t3r - Maybe the MyPillow guy will pick up all the ad slack.

@CBS reportedly suspended all news tweets.

That idiot now owns the biggest chan platform on earth. Well *done*.

ICYMI, from Brianna Wu on Twitter, 11/10:

Senior people at Twitter have resigned. We now now why. They said in private Slack channels that @elonmusk is so desperate to recoup his money, he’s taking crazy risks with YOUR privacy and safety.
Right now, Twitter is extremely hackable. That puts every user at extreme risk for DM leaks, identity theft and surveillance.

Elon doesn’t care. He wants his money. So they resigned. And top lawyers told Twitter employees to get whistleblower protections.

MSNBC says "stop covering Trump." That's like the Colonel saying "Fried chicken sucks." My irony-meter just cracked in half.

No, kidding, if they finally do stop talking about that Adderall-gobbling loon, that'd be great. Economist Mark Blyth recently commented that Vanity Fair still runs a Trump story every week. Before the 2020 election, he predicted that if Trump lost, CNN would lose half their viewership. He was off by only a few points.

Always ignore trolls. Especially big orange ones.

@Jess - Thank you. I for one am sick of being a slave to Big Tech's (cynically and horribly devised) games. With any luck, decentralized SM will be a step toward giving the internet back to the people who make it what it is.
*Man* is it old, being perceived as disposable products whose worth is determined by mystery-meat software routines that favor quantity and profit potential over quality and relevance.

If this really is , I think one huge takeaway will be that people are sick of Big Tech's algorithms: It's called "artificial intelligence" for a reason.

Sounds like Twitter had a huge team working on machine learning, which spells manipulating users and directing them to where the platforms want them to go, not to the things they look for.

That nonsense screws YouTube, Google and eBay.

Algorithms are so 2008. Give the people what they want and expect. First in first served.
