I think that when experts go on TV to discuss science stuff that every citizen really, really needs to know, their mic volume should be lowered while someone on voiceover translates all their advanced-degree-speak into normal English that isn't meant to impress other experts.
@singlemaltgirl - Sagan was one, yes. As for economists, I rather like Clara Mattei and Michael Hudson.
@esaeger Or better yet, they could try learning how to translate into "regular non-STEM person" themselves in the first place. That's an important skill for doing proper science education and outreach.
I recommend Toastmasters to STEM/Tech people rather often, too.
@esaeger there are some awesome scientists, tho, that break it down so that even an idiot like me can understand. i rather like those shows. they often get shown on pbs. & they're often british. 🤔
