In 2022, HUD calculated that 582,462 Americans were homeless. In 2020, a Housing and Urban Development report found that black people make up nearly half of the homeless population, yet comprise only 13% of the general population.
Yet another uncomfortable but unsurprising statistic. We cannot have a serious labor movement without ending system-wide racism. Fact, not opinion.

Interesting data. I live in HUD senior housing in downtown Asheville NC and walk everyday. I recognize 95% of the homeless and where they spend the night.
I would estimate 99% are white. In fact, it is often suggested POC have family who take them in. We almost never see black #homeless. And very few women.
