@erika_bower While I agree that chaplain ought not to be in schools, it's worth noting that in many denominations, a large part of training for priesthood *is* counselling training, especially grief and bereavement counselling, due to the large numbers of funerals they are required to perform.

@stueytheround I understand. But definitely not all. I’m a former child & youth minister for TEC. My bestie is in the ordination process, 3rd year. I started the process myself. I know many priests, deacons, bishops, etc. Not one of them would agree that they belong in schools to replace secular counselors. Offering their services to those suffering from traumatic events, sure. But not as an formal position in public schools. These chaplains would be unlicensed.
