For today's episode here is the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter nΒ°14213 of Busitalia Campania in service on the urban line 18 of Salerno. The company is part of Busitalia-SITA Nord (a company established in 2011 by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane after the breakup of the former public transport company SITA which was founded in 1912) as well as Busitalia Veneto, Busitalia Umbria and the Dutch Qbuzz.

@elleci42a There's so much gray in it, I thought it would more blue! how is it powered?

@researchbuzz It mounts an Euro 6 Mercedes-Benz Diesel engine of 2143 cmΒ³ and 150 PS/110 kW. That livery, is the same used by the regional trains of Trenitalia, which is the national railays company of Italy and part of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group as well as Busitalia-SITA Nord.

@elleci42a Oooh, railways and trains. That explains the gray. That's a good engine for such a small bus, isn't it?

@researchbuzz It is. FYI from 1995 to 2021 the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was sold and made in the USA too under the Freightliner brand, a former Daimler company now owned by Daimler Trucks

@elleci42a Oh, I know Freightliner! I used to work in a warehouse and one of our neighbors had a whole bunch of them. They were a plumbing company.

@researchbuzz For a short period it has been sold under the Dodge brand too in the DaimlerChrysler era
