The site was shut down after being suspended in March 2021 by Harvard Business Publishing - Z-Library is still accessible through alternative domains and the Tor network. The site has also announced that it is again accessible on the public internet through personal domains assigned to each member
Z-Library was a database of pirated e-books and scholarly articles that was a popular resource for students, researchers, and scholars, especially those who were financially disadvantaged. The site was a source of out-of-print books and academic journals that could be difficult to find elsewhere.
