'i ran away from the children’s home’
Jules Brown was taken into care at the age of 12 and spent six years in various foster homes, children’s homes and a hostel before he was told to leave.
He ended up becoming a victim of domestic abuse and then became homeless.
I was thrown in a children's home and cast aside'

😢 true story: similar to my story in ways
"Children are being taken into care, through no fault of their own, because they are at risk but so often they are not being treated with stability and love"
More often than not they are in fact in unsafe environments that are called children's homes & residential schools - adults who are meant to be looking out for their best interests are not qualified to be doing that job more often than not these adults just don't care enough its just a job to them
"Half of care leavers up to the age of 24 have a conviction and 25% of people in prison are care leavers. The statistics around mental health for young children in care are also disastrous."
As well as addiction issues, trust issues, education issues, social issues, institutionalised issues, and many, many other issues care leavers have a tough time adjusting after they "leave" care.
Usually they are just told they need to leave whatever institution they are in with little to no warning
@ecksmc 😑 it's society and system that are creating monsters, at some point majority of these monsters were just kids with so many dreams and hopes...
