No serious anti-racist should accept that misinformation must obviously result in real-world violence, framing it as some kind of natural consequence. It is not.
The Government’s sinister disinformation unit is threatening free speech again
The group responsible for the secretive, politicised and sometimes unlawful speech-policing is back to deal with the riots

@AnnetteTRemain the disinformation was one article mainly
The real story of the news website accused of fuelling riots
https://counter.social/@ecksmc/112927848950518658
And from that the campaign started from certain UK far right groups and bad actors from other governments
@AnnetteTRemain And that "task force" NSOIT tried it during the pandemic and actually ended with them spreading more misinformation and disinformation around - it causes more trouble than solutions
@ecksmc I was once a moderator. They need to put me in charge of disinfo task force. I'm cantankerous and would ban everyone. Easy peasy. Situation resolved.
@ecksmc I want to argue this but half our government is the source of our disinformation.
@AnnetteTRemain That aside it still doesn't warrant a government crack down on what information we are allowed to see and not see - misinformation has always been there its nothing new - disinformation campaigns aren't new either - governments using them as a way to stop information flowing or certain people sating certain things, with laws/new laws etc, is not the answer in stopping it
