recent android OS update on a device I found a CQATest ApK in system apps

"It is capable to identify a production system's strengths and weaknesses in quality control by using various evaluation techniques. So, the CQA test is a quality monitoring app that used by the manufacturer. As to the users, it's not entirely disclosed, you neither can uninstall or disable it"

disabled that bitch

settings > apps > all apps > *3 dots top right* system apps > disable that fucker

it can be disabled

also ICYMI three Facebook APKs also Hiden away in system apps with no app icon in app drawer

I have tooted about the 3 FB APKs before they show on some, not all, android devices even if you have never used Facebook on that device

@Dvader1 in your system apps

settings > apps > all apps > *3 dots top right* system apps < will show all apps that come pre-installed on phn from google, manufacturer and carrier

every android has around 200+ APKs tucked away hidden behind system apps

@ecksmc I only had 2 of those 3 Facebook apps, and no CQA Test, but thanks!

@Dvader1 think the CQAtest is mostly found moto/lenovo devices

after reading a lil about it one reason why i disabled mine if it isn't on, or needed, on all androids then i don't need it lingering in background on mine

but no probs after each OS update i'd check they FB APKs again on one device they were enabled again after the update finished

@ecksmc well now I am totally down the rabbit hole of uninstalling every unneeded app on my phone, so thank you for that.🤣

Follow

@Dvader1 🤣

just be careful most of the hidden away APKs are essential to android function and are needed

over the years i have really only found a handful that manufactures put in that aren't needed

a quick search of any APK name will tell you if it is needed or not

@Dvader1 wee tip

I use this wee tool for quickly viewing apps and what permissions they have as well as other handy info

play.google.com/store/apps/det

really is handy 👍

have fun

@ecksmc it's been a while for me, are custom ROMs still a thing? Been thinking about hacking up my old Samsung.

@Dvader1 tbh i haven't played around with custom ROMs in years

since i moved from purchasing pay & go devices to contract i haven't really bothered

but yeah they still are a thing
