How to Extend Your Windows 7 Security Updates Past January
Do people still use Windows 7?
Absolutely. And if they cling to it past January 14 of this coming year, they’ll have to pay a fee to Microsoft to continue to receive security updates. Most people won’t (and can’t) do this, as Microsoft’s paid security updates are geared only toward businesses, but a clever little hack allows normal people to take advantage of this service—for free.

Deadlines are scary. I know. And Microsoft has thrown Windows 7 users a big one: Update to a more modern operating system by January 15, 2020, or you’ll never receive security updates ever again. Eventually, Microsoft will even start disabling key Windows 7 services—like Internet Backgammon and Internet Checkers—throughout the year.

@ecksmc By the By; SystemD Sucks
@ecksmc This is why I'm going to Linux and FreeBsd. Should be all set by the end of this month, or end of February.
Also going all AMD Ryzen, because they're somewhat better at security, and run more stable than Skylake platforms.
@RandomUsr i'll prolly do the same got linux distros set up on thumb drives ready to go
mostly run a VM on my 32-bit so, setting up a linux distro on it i can then run win-7 in VM
old skool and hate win-10 with a passion
i have an old-grumpy 32-bit machine running win-7 right now i'll be testing the above method soon myself
i'll post the results
