@Wolfman @duglop
1st, I want to say thank you for your service!
I understand why you and thousands of other Vets deal with similar issues, along with stress related issues! I had a feeling. That's why I asked if you had served in the military. I can't imagine what you have been dealing with on a daily basis. I am so sorry that the VA makes it sound so easy to just stop being hyper vigilant! Like you said, it kept you alive while serving. It's not like a light switch. Again, I'm so sorry.
@Wolfman @duglop
That is so true about PTSD affecting everyone differently! Everyone is unique and will be affected to traumatic events in various ways. What a hellish aftereffect of feeling the most vulnerable when sleeping as a result of your service. But I hear you about having been
hyper vigilant having saved your life. It's obviously a coping skill that you carried over to civilian life. Not easy to undo. It's understood that you wouldn't feel comfortable trying to fix the issue now.
Dug, thank you for your service as well! I am so sorry that you are also affected by PTSD and anxiety! It always breaks my heart knowing that our Veterans are suffering! But, Congratulations on 10 years of sobriety! I'm happy you have found methods to help calm you. Music and animals can definitely be very therapeutic!
@duglop @Spagesgallo1 I can relate to music, animals and the outdoors.
I can see one house from mine and it's at least a mile in any direction to another house. I am a fantastic neighbor but I have only had one and I have lived next door to him for 30 years. Lol we have the crossfire defense worked our to an exact science. He watches out for me and I wath out for him.
@duglop @Spagesgallo1 yeah me too. I get a good night sleep if you can call it that when I need sleep so bad I collapse into an unconscious slumber.
@Spagesgallo1 @duglop yes I was in the Military. And yes I have had VA mental health trying to improve my sleep for decades.
They tell me that Hyper Vigilance isn't necessary. I ask them how they know that it isn't what has kept me alive.
I went to bed tonight at 9PM. But at 1AM I am wide awake. An unusual noise woke me and I still don't know what it was. Unfortunately there are thousands of Vets who deal with this and other Stress issues that we have had to learn to deal with on our own.
Because Taylor, Lzzy and Marina got something to say...

I have no idea if this might help, but have you tried clearing the cache and cookies for CoSo in your browser? It could be that something got corrupted in there and is interfering with your posts.
I hit enter/page down a few times then enter the link, then like and unlike my own post. It usually produces a thumbnail when i hit like.
Yes I am the thing that goes bump in the night!
PS: I'm a Dem/Lib - deal with it!
I'm a VET - respect that!
