@Museek and any other #nativeamerican folks, I have an etiquette question:

My real name is actually Coyote.

I get a _lot_ of people assuming I am native American, because of my name.

Any suggestions on how to respond to that?

I usually just say "I'm not Native American, actually".

But I feel like there's room for some sort of teaching moment. Any ideas?

Too many people have the problem that they cannot conceive of *variety* without *hierarchy*; they don't understand that things, or people, can be *different from* each other without one being *better* than the other.

Even worse, they can't imagine someone appreciating variety without that being a coded way of putting them down; if they're not being constantly praised for how superior they are, they feel that they're being put down.

Today brother was here. He’s got a bad cough, poor guy. He had that horrible pertussis for weeks and now another cough. I gave him hot tea and honey, cough syrup and cough drops. Hope he gets better soon.

@duglop It’s ok, we got used to the grandparents at a young age. Mom and dad made sure we understood that we weren’t at fault. I’m so sorry about your grandmother.
