But as months passed and calls for the winner to come forward persisted, nothing but silence has been heard from the unidentified ticketholder.

B.C. residents will soon become the first in Canada to have access to an at-home, self-screening test for cervical cancer.

About 200 people are diagnosed with cervical cancer a year in the province, Premier David Eby said Tuesday morning.

He said doctors in B.C. have been looking for ways to improve the diagnosis of human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause cervical cancer.

David Sills, executive director of the Northern Tornadoes Project, confirmed that a tornado did touch down in Ottawa Thursday afternoon.

This comes just minutes after a tornado watch was upgraded to a tornado warning Thursday afternoon.


Fire at Charleston Residence in Lake Louise causes evacuation

One person has been injured and more than 150 employees have been evacuated from the Charleston Residence, a staff building for the Lake Louise Ski Resort.

Thick black smoke could be seen from the Trans-Canada Highway.

EMS transported one man to hospital but his condition is not known.

The ski resort operates the gondola and several restaurants in the summer.

Environment Canada has put out two highway alerts for the Banff and Jasper area after up to 25 centimetres of snow was forecast Monday.

The alerts are in effect for the stretch of Highway 93 between Jasper and the Saskatchewan River Crossing, as well as Lake Louise to the Saskatchewan River Crossing.
